Simplify Your Life Week

Simplify Your Life Week

Did you know the first week of August is national ‘Simplify Your Life Week?’

In honor of the holiday, we’ve outlined five easy steps to help you simplify your life so you can ditch the distractions and start maximizing productivity!

Step 1 – Declutter

It sounds so strikingly simple, but it makes a big difference; take a few moments this week to declutter your workspace.

With less clutter on your desk, you’ll be able to focus on the task at hand without distractions.

On a roll? Declutter other areas of your life – clean out your wallet, take a vacuum to the inside of your car or unsubscribe from monthly subscription services you never use.

Step 2 – It’s all about the prep

Whether you’re meal prepping or prepping for a meeting tomorrow morning, being prepared for the day ahead is crucial to success and simplifying your life.

Make lunch the day before to avoid the daily routine of deciding where to grab food. You’ll save a few minutes every day that can be used elsewhere.

Similarly, spend a few minutes at the end of each day to look at your calendar for the day ahead. Prep meeting notes or agendas ahead of time so you can hit the ground running in the morning!

Step 3–  Make time to disconnect

When you’re constantly distracted by an array of different digital devices, it’s hard to keep a level head. Make some time every night to unplug so you can relax without the pings of emails, texts and calls every few minutes.

Also, turning your phone off at night is a great way to ensure you get quality sleep. Studies show that we get our best sleep when the room is completely dark and not interrupted by bright screens. notes, “light inhibits the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that can naturally promote sleep.”

 Step 4 –  Phone a friend

This is a lifeline you SHOULD choose! If you’re feeling like your mind is scattered from all your priorities or you’ve encountered a problem you can’t seem to solve, take a step back, breath and phone a friend.

Psychology Today suggests, “You may find that brainstorming with another person or even a group will help you find new ideas to help you move forward.”

In other words, next time you’re in a rut, talk it out!

 Step 5 – Stand up

…to a better workstation! Between height-adjustable desk solution and plenty of accessories you can use to organize your space, we offer tools to help simplify your work life so your productivity soars.

Thanks for joining us this ‘Simplify Your Life Week’ and happy decluttering!

I just got a standing desk. I truly love it. I spend about half of my time standing now and 1/2 sitting. This give me flexibility and also make me feel more empowered within the 8 hour job.
